Lucy Wurwand

Graduate Counseling Intern

I'm Lucy Wurwand (she/her/hers) and I am a graduate counseling intern at The Chicago School under the supervision of Dr. Tiffany Wicks. I believe therapy is a collaborative space where you explore the stories that have shaped you and discover new ways forward. As a queer, Jewish woman from an immigrant family, I value creating an affirming, nonjudgmental space for clients of all identities and relationship structures, including those who are queer, kinky, or polyamorous. My approach is warm, relational, and creative, drawing from narrative, Adlerian, feminist, and psychodynamic therapies. I often incorporate creative arts-based interventions, such as collage. Think of therapy with this driving metaphor: you are always in the driver’s seat, while I’m in the passenger seat beside you. I can help you read the map, offer directions, point out patterns in the road, and suggest different routes, but you remain in control of where you go. Therapy asks you to do the meaningful and sometimes difficult work of recognizing patterns, questioning the stories you have inherited, and rewriting those stories in ways that feel more authentic to you. My role is to support, challenge, and walk alongside you as you decide where you want to go next.
